Mendip Quilts can now be used in a commercial situation.
Silk is the ultimate luxury natural fibre, and although durable in normal domestic circumstances, should be treated with care. Until now, it has not really been feasible for either our silk or bamboo quilts to be used in a commercial or hospitality situation, due the limitations of cleaning these luxury product.
This issue has now been resolved. We can offer a specialised cover designed specifically for the hospitality industry, which can be laundered countless times at very high temperature. These covers are totally waterproof, yet breathable and are used as a barrier between your decorative quilt cover, and our silk filled or bamboo quilt.
The covers, which are very light-weight, do not dramatically change the drape or feel of the quilt. The outside of this cover is made of Tencel, a Eucalyptus derivative, which has excellent moisture absorption while having a silky touch. The inside is a polyurethane, often used in high tech sports garments. It is so effective that we put a guarantee on our quilts against soiling, if used in conjuction with the covers.
The benefits of using our quilts with these covers goes beyond just providing your patrons with a luxurious bedding alternative. The covers are washable under commercial laundry conditions and will avoid the necessity of laundering the quilts at all. Less laundering, means cost saving for you.
